New York City Mayor Eric Adams laid blame on the Biden administration for the immigrant crisis, saying the White House's response to the border has been irresponsible.
Adams's comments, which were made at a press conference on Tuesday, echo ones made previously as New York City struggles to deal with an influx of immigrants. His latest criticisms were made after he was asked if his rhetoric could inflame anti-immigrant sentiment in the city.

“It is not about the asylum-seekers and migrants. All of us came from somewhere to pursue the American dream,” Adams responded. “It is the irresponsibility of the Republican Party in Washington for refusing to do real immigration reform, and it’s the irresponsibility of the White House for not addressing this problem.”
He added that cities such as New York shouldn't have to “bear the weight of the failure from Washington, D.C.”
“It’s not about the people who are pursuing the American dream. It’s the irresponsibility of those that are allowing them to come to a country and not build the infrastructure to allow them to pursue their dream,” he continued.
“The national government has turned its back on New York City,” Adams said last month. “Every service in this city is going to be impacted by the asylum-seeker crisis.”

New York City has struggled to handle thousands of immigrants brought to the city from Texas and other red border states, which have bused thousands of them to large northern cities, including Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
The Biden administration announced earlier on Tuesday that 1,500 active-duty troops will be sent to the southern border in preparation for the pandemic policy Title 42 ending next week.
