The Democratic Party's offices in Belknap County, New Hampshire, were vandalized with antisemitic and white supremacist messages on Wednesday night shortly after a government watchdog documented a rise in antisemitism amid the Hamas war with Israel.

New Hampshire's Democratic Party leader Raymond Buckley said the incident was "unacceptable" and that antisemitism and bias need to be confronted. He said the party was "outraged and horrified by the recent discovery of antisemitic and white supremacist graffiti," in a statement Thursday morning.

"The documented rise in these hate crimes here in New Hampshire is alarming and unacceptable," Buckley said. "We must confront and challenge this vile ideology at every turn. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the Jewish community and all those targeted by these abhorrent acts. We will not be intimidated or deterred in our fight against bigotry."

The vandalism occurred at the party's headquarters in Laconia, New Hampshire, and included swastikas and an antisemitic slur that was spray-painted onto the side of the building, according to NBC News. There were also posters glued to the building that featured a Star of David with a knife through it, and there were posters of conspiracy theories about Jews and 9/11.

A spokesman for the state attorney general said it was helping local police investigate the hate crime, which Belknap County Democratic Committee Chairwoman Johnna Davis said she believes was in response to the office promoting an event on Facebook that commemorated Kristallnacht.

"Hate crimes and civil rights violations have no place in New Hampshire," Michael Garrity, a spokesman for state Attorney General John Formella, said. "The attorney general’s office is committed to working with our local, state, and federal partners to identify these acts and their perpetrators and to pursuing action to the fullest extent possible."

The New Hampshire offices are one of the latest Democratic sites to be targeted with antisemitic incidents. The Democratic National Committee's headquarters in Washington, D.C., was the site of an unlawful pro-Palestinian protest that turned violent, which occurred Wednesday night. One person was charged with assaulting a police officer.

Jewish students were also targeted in antisemitic post at Cornell University last month, and a student was charged with threatening to kill Jewish students on campus.
