Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Donald Trump for being an “incredible friend” to Israel, pointing to numerous actions Trump took in his first and current terms in office.
Netanyahu will meet with Trump at the White House on Monday, roughly a week after the United Kingdom, France, and other countries recognized a Palestinian state. Trump met with eight Arab and Muslim rulers during the United Nations General Assembly to lay out a 21-point plan to end the Gaza war, receiving support from all of them.

Netanyahu said Trump’s plan has “not been finalized yet,” but he is working with the president’s team and is hopeful it will be implemented. The prime minister also said his relationship with Trump is “unparalleled,” saying the two agree on “the main things.”
“President Trump has been an incredible ally of Israel, incredible friend. We’ve had no one like him. What he did in his first term in recognizing Jerusalem as our capital, moving the American embassy there, recognizing our sovereignty over the Golan Heights, getting out of the disastrous Iran deal, and then, of course, now joining us in the effort to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons by taking out some of these nuclear sites with us, I think it’s great,” Netanyahu said on Fox News’s The Sunday Briefing.
Netanyahu also rebuffed a “ridiculous lie” that he controls Trump, saying the president decides “what’s in America’s best interests.” Netanyahu also said he is “very happy” that Trump sees “the importance” of protecting both “the free world” and its allies from the “Iran terror axis.”
Part of Trump’s 21-point plan for peace includes Israel pledging not to strike Qatar again, as the former did earlier this month. When asked if Israel would agree to this, Netanyahu said he would talk about this with Trump, saying he’d rather have these negotiations with the president.
