The National Park Service announced that Thursday night's National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will continue as planned following a brief disruption on Tuesday.

The giant Christmas tree, which gets lit annually, experienced a tumble on Tuesday evening due to harsh winds blowing through Washington. The National Park Service replaced a cable that had been snapped and brought the tree upright again by 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

In this image made from video, the National Christmas Tree hangs from a crane in front of the White House as a crew works to lift it back up after it fell on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, amid high winter winds.

"None of the 58 smaller trees that surround the National Christmas Tree were damaged," the statement read. "About 20 ornaments fell from the tree but did not break. Crews are installing concrete blocks and additional cables to further secure the tree."

This year's ceremony marks the 101st lighting ceremony, and it is using "a cut, 40' Norway spruce," the park service stated.
