Former presidential adviser and current Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk expressed regret about his social media posts about President Donald Trump. It was the latest development in the current feud between the former acquaintances.
Musk made the comments in a post on his X account early Wednesday morning. He admitted he took his criticism of the president “too far.”

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week,” Musk said in his post. “They went too far.”
Musk and Trump engaged in a social media battle last week after Musk complained about the contents of the “big, beautiful bill, which Musk categorized as reckless and excessive government spending that would significantly add to the national debt. The rage-filled comments by Musk came just days after he left his official position in the Trump administration at the end of May as a special government employee.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk said in a post on X on June 3. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
Shortly thereafter, Musk and Trump exchanged social media posts on two different platforms. Trump had threatened to pull government funding for Musk’s company in a post on Truth Social, while Musk responded by linking him with Jeffrey Epstein (without providing any evidence) and later said the president’s tariffs would devastate the economy by causing a recession on X.
After the Trump threat about government funding, Musk dangled the possibility of decommissioning his Dragon spacecraft. He also supported a post that said Trump should be impeached and replaced with Vice President J.D. Vance.
Musk would later delete some of his posts about Trump, including the one about impeachment and the one linking the president to Epstein.
Shortly after his reconciliatory post about his comments regarding the president, Musk reposted a joke he made in 2021 about a fictitious drug called “regretamine.”
“New drug coming out called Regretamine,” Musk said in the 2021 social media post. “Pop one & all regrets are gone.”
Shortly after reposting this on his X account, however, Musk changed his mind and deleted it.
