NextImg:Musk accuses governments of manipulating X Community Notes - Washington Examiner

X CEO Elon Musk said he would “fix” the site’s Community Notes feature, accusing governments and legacy media of manipulating the system.

“Unfortunately, @CommunityNotes is increasingly being gamed by governments & legacy media,” Musk said on the platform regarding a post debunking a note that said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has an approval rating of 57%. “Working to fix this … ”

Musk quoted a post from the account @amuse, which said the Zelensky poll was untrustworthy because the institute that conducted it was too close to the Ukrainian government and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has come under intense scrutiny from Republicans. The survey was referenced in a fact check on President Donald Trump’s claim that only 4% of Ukrainians support Zekensky.

“It is unlikely the polling is credible,” @amuse posted. “The US intel community estimates support at around 4% which is the number Trump has been citing. Don’t bet against Trump.”

In his repost, Musk said it was “utterly obvious that a Zelensky-controlled poll about his OWN approval is not credible!!”

“If Zelensky was actually loved by the people of Ukraine, he would hold an election,” Musk posted. “He knows he would lose in a landslide, despite having seized control of ALL Ukrainian media, so he canceled the election.”

Trump called Zelensky “a dictator without elections” in Miami on Wednesday. Ukraine’s 2024 presidential elections were postponed due to martial law.

TRUMP NOTCHES SOME LEGAL WINS AMID COURT BATTLES

This isn’t the first time Musk has sparred with the Community Notes feature, which he implemented upon taking over the social media platform in 2022. In January, a Community Note called one of Musk’s posts “objectively false” when he said, “It’s a myth that subways are super efficient.”

“This is objectively false. Subways have more than 10x the capacity of a road for cars. The average capacity of a single roadway is typically ~2,000 passengers per hour while the average capacity of a subway line is closer to 50,000 passengers per hour,” said the Community Note.
