Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed Friday that former President Donald Trump's 20-minute appearance at the historic but bug-ridden Fulton County Jail would bond him with the surrounding community.
The former president surrendered to authorities at the Atlanta jail on Thursday night on charges related to a sweeping racketeering indictment that included 18 of his allies. The indictment is related to their alleged efforts to overturn the results of the state's 2020 presidential election.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN TRUMP TURNS HIMSELF IN TO FULTON COUNTY JAIL
"Processing Pres Trump in the Rice Street jail - where conditions are so inhumane inmates have died eaten alive by bed bugs - will bond Trump to the very people who live in those neighborhoods," Greene posted to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. "The poor people in Atlanta have suffered more under Biden and Democrat policies than ever before. $4/gal gas, inflation doubling the price of food, high crime, increase in deadly drugs, cartel linked gangs and sexualization and sex traffic of their children. And they all remember EVERYTHING was better under President Trump who Fani Willis just arrested."
“That’s our President!”

The poor people in Atlanta have suffered more…
The former president is facing 13 felony charges, including violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Rudy Giuliani is also facing 13 felony charges.
Trump's processing at the jail, which is known for its inhumane conditions, was part of the fourth time the former president has had to turn himself over to authorities this year. But Thursday's surrender marked the first time Trump had a mug shot taken.
Greene appeared with the crowd of Trump supporters outside of the county jail on Thursday night while the former president was being processed.
“The reason why I'm here is because this is my home state. I was born and raised in the state of Georgia, and I'm here as a Georgian,” Greene said outside the jail.

The congresswoman went on to show her support on social media, claiming she would vote for the former president in 2024 from jail if necessary. Trump has been indicted four times this year but has maintained his innocence in each case.
A trial date in Georgia has not been set so far, but Willis asked for an Oct. 23 trial start date for Trump and his co-defendants. The district attorney said she intends to try all 19 defendants together.
