Former President Donald Trump has decried his indictment in Fulton County, Georgia, on racketeering charges related to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in the state as part of a continuing "witch hunt," but most adults do not agree with him.
An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released on Wednesday showed that 51% believe Trump acted illegally with his actions in Georgia, compared to only 15% who believe Trump did nothing wrong and 13% who believe what Trump did was unethical but not illegal.

Trump's alleged actions in Georgia were the basis for an indictment of 13 counts related to the state's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act on Monday. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis alleged Trump and his co-conspirators were working to "accomplish the illegal goal of allowing Donald J. Trump to seize the presidential term of office beginning on Jan. 20, 2021," during a late-night press conference on Monday.
When polled about the other actions Trump has been criminally charged for, 53% believe the former president's alleged mishandling of classified documents was illegal, 47% believe his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was illegal, and 34% believe he did something illegal with his alleged hush money payments in Manhattan ahead of the 2016 election. Those actions are the subject of indictments in a federal court in Florida, a federal court in Washington, D.C., and a court in Manhattan, respectively.
When asked specifically if the Justice Department was right to indict Trump in Washington on his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election, 53% said they approved of the indictment, including 41% who strongly approve, compared to 29% who disapproved.
The former president's approval rating also remains underwater. Among the surveyed adults, 62% said they view Trump unfavorably, while 35% said they view him favorably.
