MSNBC host Joe Scarborough declared Monday that the "cogency" and lucidity of former President Donald Trump is far inferior to that of President Joe Biden.
"I think it's just hilarious that you have people that actually support Donald Trump, have listened to what he has had said, the nonsense, the gargle, the word salad ... just the absolute insanity, if you follow the transcripts, and then they look at Joe Biden and say, 'Oh, he's cognitively impaired,'" Scarborough told Richard Haass, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, on Morning Joe.
HOW SEN. ERIC SCHMITT'S SON PROMPTED HIS ENTRY INTO POLITICAL LIFE
"When you follow any Joe Biden press conference, as far as actual facts, as far as actual policy, policy prescriptions, compare him to just about any other Donald Trump press conference, and there's just not a comparison."

Supporters on either side of the aisle can manufacture video of their political rivals looking "cognitively declined," according to Scarborough, but when it comes to "cogency" regarding policy, the current president is far superior to his predecessor.
"Donald Trump loses by a landslide," he said.
Haass did not appear to agree with Scarborough entirely and suggested there may be a method to the 45th president's "madness."
"He's actually quite clever in crossing lines about legal culpability or on policy issues," Haass said.
Trump's recent interview regarding abortion with NBC's Kristen Welker is a prime example, he said.
"In his own way, he reduces his own vulnerability and he kind of spins just constantly, and I'd say, for his base, it clearly works for them," according to Haass.
"It's not conditional, this support," he added. "So, he can get away with this kind of stuff, Joe, and I just think his supporters, they're kind of impervious to this sort of thing."

When it comes to Trump, it's a "firehouse of falsehoods," Scarborough said.
"You know George Orwell used to always talk about how fascists were so much better at propaganda, and there is no doubt that Donald Trump has torn a page out of the fascist playbook when it comes to propaganda."
