The Morning Joe duo of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski slammed "restrictive abortion laws" on Tuesday, claiming they harm the United States's military "readiness."

"Now, it becomes a readiness problem," Scarborough said. "If you're a woman who wants to get involved in the United States military, if you're a husband whose wife doesn't want to travel with you to a state that bans abortions or has a six-week ban on abortion and starts to hear about this sort of hostility towards women making healthcare choices ... it becomes a real readiness problem."

Brzezinski echoed Scarborough and chastised Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) for working to make the military an unwelcoming space for women.

"Does he not want women to join the military?" she asked. "Or does he just not want women who have pregnancies in the military and that would be for men? OK, that's how it happens, Tommy."

Those pregnancies would require an abortion for any reason, Brzezinski said, addressing the senator.

"You don't want them to be denied," she said. "So, what woman would actually want to join the military in a environment like that ... a misogynistic, cruel environment."
