More than 100 Israeli service members have been killed in Gaza since their ground invasion of the strip.
As of Tuesday morning, the number of Israeli troops killed in the battle is at 105, while 600 have been wounded. The number of troops killed since the beginning of the war, which started with the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, is above 430.

Twenty of the Israeli troops who were killed died in accidents — 13 in friendly fire, six in incidents related to weaponry, machinery, or trampling, and one because of “firing irregularities," according to CNN.
Israeli forces entered Gaza on Oct. 27, nearly three weeks after the Hamas terrorist attack that ignited the war. They initially carried out actions in northern Gaza but have since started focusing on targets in the southern part of the enclave since the end of the weeklong ceasefire.
Israeli officials have said approximately 7,000 Hamas fighters, roughly a quarter of the group’s suspected fighting force, have been killed throughout the war and that 500 militants have been detained in Gaza in the past month. The death toll in Gaza is more than 17,000, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza health ministry.
The international community has criticized Israel repeatedly and loudly for the civilian casualties, though the ministry's tally does not distinguish between combatants and civilians.

Hamas has been reduced to “islands of resistance," in the north, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told the Associated Press, while “they are still organized militarily" in southern Gaza.
Israeli officials have said repeatedly that their goals are to remove Hamas from power, dismantle the group's military capabilities, and get back all of the hostages. Hamas still holds about 117 hostages and the remains of 20 people who died in captivity or during the initial attack, while more than 100 of the hostages were freed during the truce.
