Federal prosecutors have charged a previously deported illegal immigrant with attempted murder for throwing a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement officers during the riots in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The Department of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Emiliano Garduno-Galvez on Monday as the suspect in the attempted assault on police during riots.

Garduno-Galvez is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who the government previously removed from the United States, only for him to return again. He also had a criminal record in the U.S, according to the DHS.

“These are the types of criminal illegal aliens that rioters are fighting to protect,” DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “The Los Angeles rioters will not stop us or slow us down. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Garduno-Galvez was arrested by the Anaheim Police Department last year on grand theft charges and by the Long Beach Police Department for driving under the influence.
