Police had earlier discovered his alleged vehicle, along with a hat near it that was believed to be Boelter’s as well.
The arrest follows a manhunt for Boelter, the alleged gunman who, while impersonating a police officer, shot former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, along with state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. Hortman and her husband both died, while Hoffman and his wife are out of surgery after being injured in shooting.
Police exchanged fire with gunman after the shooting at Hortman’s residence while performing a wellness check, before the suspect fled on foot.
That spurred a weekend-long manhunt, with the FBI previously offering $50,000 for any information leading to Boelter’s capture.
