Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) is introducing legislation aimed at bolstering President Donald Trump‘s efforts to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives throughout the federal government.

Trump issued an executive order on his first day back in the White House aiming to eliminate DEI programs in the federal government, programs he said in the order “corrupted” various offices “by replacing hard work, merit, and equality with a divisive and dangerous preferential hierarchy.” The Trump administration has also ordered federal employees to report any efforts to continue DEI efforts under different titles or methods as it seeks to eliminate the programs.

Mills’s bill, titled the DEI to DIE Act, would have the director of the Office of Management and Budget, the attorney general, and the director of the Office of Personnel Management “coordinate the termination of all discriminatory programs,” including DEI, by reviewing all federal “employment practices, union contracts, and training policies or programs.”

The bill would also require the termination of various “equity” initiatives, actions, and programs, along with “equity action plans,” while also ending “all DEI, DEIA, and ‘’environmental justice’ offices and positions.”

“I am proud to introduce the DEI to DIE Act, which will enact President Trump’s executive order for a comprehensive government ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives,” Mills said in a statement.

“We will correct the failures caused by prioritizing woke policies by dismantling DEI-driven programs that have weakened government efficiency and imposed divisive ideologies under the Biden Administration. This includes strengthening military readiness, improving the U.S. Secret Service’s protective efforts, and fixing education programs that have placed ideology above academic achievement,” he added. “By restoring merit-based hiring and standards, we are prioritizing performance and unity, we will restore fundamental American principles, and keep national security as our top priority.”

Eliminating DEI programs has been one of the main efforts by the Trump administration in its bid to undo many of the initiatives put in place by the Biden administration. Legislation passed would be more stringent to legal challenges than Trump’s current actions, which have all been executive orders.

The bill would need to pass on the narrowly GOP-led House and pass the filibuster in the Republican-led Senate to make it to Trump’s desk for approval.
