Former Vice President Mike Pence bashed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for his support for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

On Wednesday, DeSantis praised RFK Jr.'s views on COVID-19 and vaccines, suggesting he could serve a role in his administration. Pence hit back at the comment, pointing to the Democrat's views on abortion as disqualifying him from serving any role in a potential Pence administration.

"When I am President, I will only consider Pro-Life Americans to lead the FDA, CDC, or HHS," Pence said in a statement. "To be clear, pro-abortion Democrats like RFK, Jr. would not even make the list."

DeSantis addressed his differences with RFK Jr. to counterbalance his praise during the comments, which were made in an interview with Clay Travis on OutKick. He was responding to a question from Travis on whether he would consider the Democrat as a potential running mate.

“If you’re president, sic him on the FDA if he’d be willing to serve or sic him on CDC,” DeSantis answered. “In terms of being veep, if there’s 70% of the issues that he may be averse to our base on, that just creates an issue.”

RFK Jr. has drawn a considerable amount of praise from Republicans for his positions on COVID-19, vaccines, the Biden administration, and the war in Ukraine, among other issues. Other Republicans, like Pence, are wary of any alliance with him due to his liberal stances on other issues, such as abortion.

RFK Jr. has gained in the polls but is still seen as a long-shot candidate against President Joe Biden, who has the support of most Democratic leaders.
