U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee attended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial on Wednesday in a show of support, a day after he called on Israel to “aggressively investigate the murder” of a Palestinian American in the West Bank.

Huckabee’s decision to attend Netanyahu’s court case, in which the prime minister faces allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, was an unprecedented show of support, following President Donald Trump’s public rebuke of the case last month.

“I stopped by the trial of [Netanyahu] in Tel Aviv today,” he wrote on social media. “My conclusion? [Trump] is right…again.”

Netanyahu’s case has stretched on for four years due to his repeated efforts to delay it and the conflicts the country is involved in across the region.

Last month, Trump said on social media, “It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,” and he warned, “The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this.”

A day before Huckabee attended Netanyahu’s day in court, he publicly called on Israeli authorities to investigate the murder of Saif Mussallet. The 20-year-old Palestinian American was killed while visiting family in the Sinjil area when he was beaten to death by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

“There must be accountability for this criminal and terrorist act,” said Huckabee, who has long been a supporter of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which are controversial internationally.

Musallet was reportedly killed on Friday during a confrontation that also left another Palestinian man, Mohammad Shalabi, 23, dead.

Violence between Palestinians and Israelis in the West Bank has escalated since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza began in October 2023.

Trump, in his first days in office, reversed sanctions placed on dozens of Israeli settlers accused of carrying out violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
