U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee blamed European leaders promoting Palestinian statehood for derailing negotiation efforts with Hamas.
France, the United Kingdom, and Canada have signaled they could recognize Palestine as a state. All three have called for Hamas to commit to an immediate ceasefire and release any remaining hostages.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer will sign on to the announcement “unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza.”
According to Huckabee, this proclamation slated for the United Nations conference in September could be a pat on the back for Hamas.
The terrorist group was last in negotiations with Israel and the United States a week ago. Discussions ended due to, as White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff claimed, Hamas’s “lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.”
“The reason that Hamas pulled away from all discussions is because they’re watching the Europeans patting them on the back and giving them power and influence,” Huckabee said on Newsmax’s Wake Up America Thursday.
“That is not helpful, and it needs to stop, and the world needs to stand with Israel and say to Hamas, ‘You’re finished.’ That’s what [President Donald Trump] is saying.”
