


The shoes Michael Jordan wore during the iconic "Flu Game" of the 1997 NBA Finals sold for $1.38 million.
Jordan was wearing the Air Jordan 12s the night he put up 38 points while experiencing flu-like symptoms in a matchup pitting Jordan's Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz. The Bulls bested the Jazz 90-88, according to a report on the sale.

Jordan gifted the shoes to Jazz ballboy Preston Thomas that night, and 26 years later, the signed shoes have been sold through Goldin Auction.
After MJ’s “Flu Game, he gave and signed his game-used shoes to Utah Jazz ball boy Preston Truman, who befriended Jordan by remembering his pregame routine — Applesauce on graham crackers. Truman sold the shoes in 2013 for $104,765.

A letter of authenticity from Thomas and a photo displaying the signature were also included, the report noted.
While many initially thought Jordan had the flu, it was later discovered that he was suffering from food poisoning after eating pizza.
Thomas was gifted the shoes by Jordan because the Bulls No. 23 remembered that Thomas had given him graham crackers and applesauce during a 1996 game, according to the report.

"I would be honored," Thomas told Jordan when he was asked if he wanted the shoes.
The former ballboy sold the shoes for $104,765 in 2013.
