Former first lady Melania Trump will be speaking about ways to “unite” the country at a fundraising event on behalf of her husband, Donald Trump.
Saturday will be Melania Trump’s first fundraiser for her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign, hosted by Log Cabin Republicans, an LGBT group. She defended her reasoning in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“We must unite in our effort to establish a society where equality is the everyday experience of every American,” she said. “Individual freedom provides a unifying set of principles, and ultimately establishes our American way.”
Log Cabin Republicans will be focusing on garnering gay and lesbian voters during the event at Mar-a-Lago. Melania Trump described the group’s mission as one “rooted in respect.”
“Based on this central value, people thrive and exist together in a world where all are honored and celebrated,” she said.
