Megyn Kelly stated in a recent podcast that the Walt Disney Company's recent movies are financially underperforming due to consumers rejecting its "woke" content.

The conservative personality cited a report that claimed that Disney's last eight films had made them lose almost $900 million following a series of "woke flops" at movie theaters, including films like Lightyear, Elemental, and The Little Mermaid remake. The underperformance comes as several of these movies feature LGBT characters, such as Disney's first non-binary character in Elemental, Kelly said on her SiriusXM podcast.

“The people are not buying this content,” Kelly said on her SiriusXM the Megyn Kelly Show. “They don’t want this content.”

Megyn Kelly, who hosts a podcast on SuriusXM, explained why the Walt Disney company is financially struggling during a recent podcast on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative activist group Turning Point USA, made a guest appearance on Kelly's podcast, and stated while he tries not to rejoice in the "suffering" of people or companies, he has suspended this rule about Disney. He stated that the company used to be "a wholesome family-friendly company," but that the company has since "violated that trust" and that it "deserves to suffer."

Disney's most recent movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, opened to a tepid $60 million in North America on the weekend of June 30. The film has a budget of almost $300 million, according to Variety.

On the Fourth of July, the fifth Indiana Jones movie came in second at the box office, losing the top spot to Sound of Freedom, a film based on the true story of former federal agent Tim Ballard saving children from human trafficking.

Another recent Disney movie, Pixar's Elemental, only grossed $29.5 million during its opening weekend in mid-June, making it the worst start for a Pixar film since Toy Story in 1995. The animated film reportedly cost $200 million to make and another $100 million to market.
