House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said Hunter Biden prosecutor David Weiss must answer Congress's questions.

While McCarthy refused to say whether or not he would subpoena the prosecutor, he used strong words to call for Weiss to testify, according to TheMessenger.

“Well, he’s gonna have to,” McCarthy said to reporters on Tuesday when told that Weiss refused to talk about the Biden inquiry due to it being an investigation.

“I think you cannot sit back and hide behind and have an attorney general say one thing, you say something else in private. What do you have to hide?” he added when asked if he would subpoena Weiss.

McCarthy stressed the importance of Weiss testifying for Congress to obtain answers in its investigation into alleged criminal misdeeds by the first son.

“There’s a lot of questions here that continue to rise from every time the more you look it,” he said. “Weiss has not come before us and talked to us. Weiss wrote a letter that raises even more questions.”

Weiss made known his intention not to speak publicly about the criminal investigation into Biden in a letter sent to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Monday.

"Since the whistleblowers’ allegations relate to a criminal investigation that is currently being prosecuted in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, I have a duty to protect confidential law enforcement information and deliberative communications related to the case," he wrote. "As I likewise indicated, I welcome the opportunity to respond to these claims in more detail at the appropriate future time, as authorized by the law and Department policy."
