Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) credited the GOP majority for uncovering a litany of evidence against Hunter Biden.

McCarthy appeared on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures to discuss the latest on the investigation into President Joe Biden's son Hunter. Special counsel David Weiss is currently deciding whether to continue with the previous tax evasion charges or charge Hunter with additional crimes.

"First, you gotta understand, only because Republicans took the majority have we found out what President Biden told us when he was running for office is not true," McCarthy explained. "He said he never had any dealings with his son’s business and that he never even talked to him. We've now found out not only did he call into the meetings, he went to dinner, and after the dinner, Hunter Biden got a new Porsche, that there was 3.5 million transferred.

"We now found out as he was a sitting vice president, the family created 20 shell companies. They received 16 of 17 payments from Romania while he was vice president. We now found out the money would flow to nine family members. He has to continue to change this," McCarthy went on.

The president's son was set to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter into a pretrial diversion agreement to avoid a felony gun charge following a nearly five-year federal investigation, but questions from a judge in July about what she called "unusual" provisions of the deal resulted in it unraveling. His attorney has already made clear that he is only willing to plead guilty to the two original charges and would plead not guilty otherwise.

"If you look at all the information we have been able to gather so far, it is a natural step forward that you would have to go to an impeachment inquiry," McCarthy said. "So your viewers understand what that means, that provides Congress the apex of legal power to get all of the information that they need."

President Biden is in the middle of a reelection campaign and facing off against two Democratic candidates: environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and author Marianne Williamson. Thirteen candidates are vying for the Republican nomination.
