Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas dismissed criticisms of him following two terrorist attacks.

During the New Year’s Day celebration in New Orleans, Shamsud-Din Jabbar subverted a police barricade and drove through the crowds before shooting and killing fifteen people. In another case, a man parked a Tesla Cybertruck outside of the glass doors to the Las Vegas Trump Hotel, and fifteen seconds later, the driver detonated the vehicle.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) called out the Biden administration for being “completely derelict in its duty.” While both these suspects were American citizens, Johnson has long raised alarm bells over possible terrorists coming over the border under Mayorkas’s watch.

TRUMP’S BUDGET CHIEF SHOWS ‘TOTAL’ COMMITMENT TO SHRINKING GOVERNMENT

“It is not an issue of the border,” Mayorkas said of the attacks on ABC News’s This Week Sunday. “With respect to the border, our highest responsibility and one that we work to fulfill each and every day throughout the Department of Homeland Security, throughout the federal government, is the safety and security of the American people. That is what we have incredibly talented and dedicated individuals doing every day in their careers.”

Mayorkas lamented that radicalization is “not limited” to the military but is a nationwide issue. Both suspects of these terrorist attacks, plus President-elect Donald Trump’s second attempted assassin, were veterans.

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) is set to be appointed to replace Mayorkas once Trump takes office on Jan. 20. Mayorkas wished her success and a “smooth transition.”

Both suspected terrorists died during their violent stunts. The driver of the Cybertruck shot himself in the vehicle before it exploded in Las Vegas. In New Orleans, Jabbar was killed when police returned fire.
