Former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza was smeared as a rapist and had his NFL dream destroyed based on false rape accusations. So where is his justice now?
Araiza was nicknamed “Punt God” in college for his booming punts and was drafted by the Bills in 2022. Before his season even began, he was accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 17-year-old girl along with two teammates. No criminal charges were brought (and in December of that year, the district attorney’s office in San Diego announced none would be brought), and yet the Bills were pressured into cutting Araiza by sports media and liberal media (but I repeat myself).
BIDEN MUST BE CLEAR WITH CHINA OVER CYBERATTACKS
As was previously detailed, Araiza was not even at the party at the time the alleged rape occurred. In fact, videos and witness testimony indicated that whatever sexual encounters involving the “victim” that occurred were consensual, and, again, Araiza was not even at the party when they happened. The accuser’s attorney insisted that no charges were brought because the system is biased against sexual assault victims but assured that the civil suit would continue.
That saga has finally ended, with the accuser dropping her lawsuit. Araiza has been fully vindicated, and yet he had his name dragged through the mud by national media, his reputation smeared forever, and his NFL dream killed before it could even be realized.

So, again, where is his justice? Where can he reclaim his reputation? Or the career he had terminated? Where is the accountability for the media personalities and “journalists” who pushed the Bills to end Araiza’s career, including ESPN blowhard Stephen A. Smith?
I really hope your apology and retraction is just as loud and passionate as your condemnation of Matt Araiza's supposed actions @stephenasmith and @MollyQerim. You should have probably been aware that the San Diego DA refused to prosecute, because there's video evidence, and… pic.twitter.com/8crEuXQHJ1

Araiza’s career and reputation weren’t just destroyed based on one unsubstantiated accusation. It was destroyed by a national media environment that continues to try and punish people based on nothing but accusations based on a liberal worldview that says that due process is outdated and irrelevant when someone from an aggrieved identity class claims wrongdoing by someone with “privilege.” They didn’t learn from the Duke lacrosse false accusations or the false accusations against Baylor’s Shawn Oakman, and they won’t learn from the false accusations against Araiza either.
There needs to be a reckoning in national media for the personalities that pushed for Araiza to be released. Araiza will never get justice for what happened to him, but that would be the closest thing to it, and it would potentially protect the next person who has false accusations thrown at them from a similar fate.
