The Massachusetts government is recommending the state enact child abuse laws for withholding transgender drugs and surgeries for children.

The Bay State's "Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning Youth" released its legislative recommendations for next year, which include going after parents who do not allow their children to pursue cross-sex hormones, puberty blockers, and genital mutilation surgeries.

Citing "public transphobia," the independent state government agency says it has "serious concerns about the wellbeing of trans and gender expansive youth in the home." It recommends that the state codify children's abilities to artificially transition their bodies through drugs and surgeries.

“What the public is rising up against is not transgenderism, and it is not expressing transphobia, but, rather, the public is rising up against the enabling of children, who cannot possibly consent in an informed fashion, to undergo potentially dangerous, life-altering, and even body altering procedures in the absence of a solid body of evidence to show that these approaches improve their health, or their psychological well-being," Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, chair of the medical advocacy group Do No Harm, told the Washington Examiner. "To label such a legitimate public concern as child abuse is beyond parody.”

In addition to child abuse laws, the Commission recommends the government establish a "maltreatment code system" in order to more efficiently track down cases of "child abuse and neglect."

The recommendation comes as groups like the American Civil Liberties Union are fighting to pass constitutional amendments in several states that parents are concerned would allow children of any age to initiate such medical interventions without parental knowledge or consent.

A movement among the American medical establishment and progressive politicians and special interests has been heavily pushing for the transition of children legislatively, through lawsuits, and through medical guidelines for doctors.

That push comes in stark contrast to European countries like the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Finland, and Sweden, which have all raised the alarm on the medical and social transition of children, finding a lack of evidence that the method of treatment for gender dysphoria works while also citing significant dangers.

The Massachusetts Commission did not respond to the Washington Examiner when asked how it responds to the concerns raised by the European nations.
