North Carolina second lady Yolanda Robinson mounted a spirited defense of her husband as he stands accused of making lewd and racist comments on a pornography forum over a decade ago.
With Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign struggling to retain GOP support after the publication of the allegations, his wife of over three decades took to social media with a message of support.
“Mark has been a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, always being there for our children and grandchildren,” the second lady said in a video posted to X on Thursday evening.
Facing the camera, she told viewers to “forget what you have heard” before a montage of clips recounted the fallout her husband experienced with Republican colleagues after reportedly making pro-slavery, antisemitic, and sexist comments.
“Look, there’s the Mark Robinson they show. Then, there’s the Mark Robinson that I know,” his wife continued during the roughly two-minute video. “The Mark Robinson that I know is a man who cares deeply, fights relentlessly, and wants nothing more than to serve you as the next governor of North Carolina.”

A CNN report published Sept. 19 alleged the lieutenant governor made a host of remarks on a pornography forum, “Nude Africa,” that cost him vital GOP support. Some of his alleged comments advocated a return to slavery. “I’m a black Nazi,” he allegedly said. Other sexually graphic remarks dwelled on an affinity for transgender pornography and “peeping” on girls in gym showers as a teenager.

Although Mark Robinson has defiantly knocked what he describes as “tabloid trash,” the story threatened to derail his gubernatorial ambitions as top Republican leaders backed away from their embattled colleague. On Wednesday, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) followed suit as he pulled his support from Mark Robinson’s campaign against North Carolina Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein.
Mark Robinson has repeatedly accused Stein of “working hand-in-hand” with the media to topple his campaign by focusing on “salacious lies.”

The second lady used her video Thursday to reiterate her husband’s claims.
“Make no mistake, Josh Stein and his friends are attacking Mark to distract you from his record,” she said. “Give him a chance. I sure did. And it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
