Bestselling author and 2024 Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson lashed out at the Democratic National Committee over the lack of primary debates.
"The DNC 'plans no primary debates.' As though there simply ARE no other candidates … no other ideas we should discuss about ways to win in 2024, or other ideas we should discuss about ways to repair the country. Too many people are too smart to accept this," Williamson tweeted.

Her criticism toward the DNC comes as President Joe Biden is rumored to be circling around a campaign debut this week. Williamson has previously accused the DNC of creating a "rigged" primary process.
The lack of debates for a primary challenger against a sitting president is not unusual. Former President Donald Trump drew a few GOP challengers in 2020 and never debated them, as he was ahead of them in polling by wide margins, similar to Biden's current polling.
Williamson is one of two progressive challengers, alongside environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The prospect of Biden drawing a more prominent primary rival has largely subsided after Biden led his party to a historically strong performance in the 2022 midterm elections.
Biden's team has largely shrugged off Williamson and Kennedy Jr., with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre mocking Williamson's spiritual endeavors after she announced her campaign last month. Williamson's team has flashed a poll from her campaign showing double-digit support among Democrats, but she still trails Biden considerably.

Williamson is slated to swing through Michigan on Monday and then head to Georgia and South Carolina later this week for various campaign trail activities. She has largely steered clear of solely focusing on Biden and has instead mostly concentrated on progressive causes and grips with the Democratic luminaries.
