NextImg:Marianne Williamson faces exodus of campaign staffers as another manager leaves

Marianne Williamson lost her second campaign manager in two months. It's the the latest in a string of desertions from her 2024 presidential campaign.

Campaign manager Roza Calderon's departure was first announced by the left-wing podcast The Vanguard. Then it was confirmed by two sources familiar with the campaign, according to Politico. One source told the outlet that her relationship with Williamson was rocky, and she quit on her own volition.

“She tried to right the ship and lead this campaign. Marianne knocked her down every chance she got,” the person said.

Calderon's departure also comes following revelations that she was accused of financial fraud by a local Democratic group in 2017. The Placer Women Democrats accused Calderon of misusing roughly $1,900 in funds by using the organization's bank account for personal expenses and concert tickets. The case was settled out of court in 2019, and Calderon was put on probation for three years. She was also meant to write an apology letter and ordered not to take any positions “of trust” for elderly or dependent adults, Politico reported.

Williamson's campaign has been beset by a variety of headaches regarding staffing. Campaign manager Peter Daou announced his resignation last month, saying he needed to focus on caring for his sick mother. Former deputy campaign manager Jason Call resigned just days earlier, though he cited a nondisclosure agreement in declining to give a reason as to why.

With the majority of Democratic support focused elsewhere, Williamson's campaign is seen as a long shot.
