Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is outraising the Republican candidates vying for his seat — and he may not even be running for reelection.

According to Manchin's campaign, he raised $1.2 million in the second quarter of 2023 despite the uncertainty over his reelection bid and speculation of a third-party presidential challenge to President Joe Biden.

At the end of the quarter, his campaign reported $10.7 million in cash on hand.

Manchin's affiliated super PAC, Country Roads PAC, pulled in $397,368 in the same quarter, reporting $2.2 million on hand.

In comparison, Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) raised just under $1 million for his Senate bid, announced in late April. Justice had been courted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Senate Leadership Fund, which is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) political action committee.

Justice's primary competitor is Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV), who is backed by the conservative Club for Growth and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Mike Lee (R-UT). Mooney's campaign did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for second-quarter fundraising numbers.

However, the club released a statement on Wednesday announcing that it had raised $13.55 million for Mooney's campaign. Its fundraising was not specified as being confined to the second quarter of 2023, though.

This comes as speculation continues over Manchin's rumored third-party White House bid, which was only fueled on Wednesday by the news that the national movement No Labels is hosting the West Virginia senator for a town hall event in New Hampshire on Monday.

Most Democratic politicians and activists have been vocal about their opposition to the movement, which they see solely as a move to take down Biden.
