


A man was taken into custody on Tuesday morning by the Secret Service after a vehicle crashed into a White House security gate.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken into custody on charges of a DUI and unlawful entry. He drove a vehicle into a bollard at the security entrance near 15th Street and E Street on the White House complex, according to Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Guglielmi said the man was taken into custody by the Secret Service Uniformed Division after striking the security bollard around 4:30 a.m. He underwent medical evaluation, Guglielmi said.
"No injuries & the individual’s actions were not targeted towards the White House," Guglielmi said.

Guglielmi said morning traffic may have been affected due to heightened security around the White House.
This is not the first instance of people crashing into security barriers that surround the White House. In May 2022, two juveniles were hurt after they crashed a stolen car into a concrete barrier on the western side of the White House, according to NBC Washington.
