Socialist Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) is engulfed in flames of doubt after he was caught pulling the fire alarm in the Cannon Building on Saturday, shortly before the House vote on funding the government. His actions resulted in an evacuation of the building. Bowman released a statement after pulling the alarm. He denied any purposeful wrongdoing, but surveillance images of Bowman raised doubt about his explanation.

“I want to personally clear up confusion surrounding today’s events. Today, as I was rushing to make a vote, I came to a door that is usually open for votes but today would not open. I am embarrassed to admit that I activated the fire alarm, mistakenly thinking it would open the door. I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this caused,” Bowman said in a statement released on X, formerly Twitter.

However, surveillance pictures show that Bowman’s explanation doesn’t make much sense. One image shows Bowman pulling the alarm. Another shows the fire alarm alone on a wall, not next to any other buttons or devices that would have opened any doors. Furthermore, the images also show Bowman pulling the alarm while standing behind a sign that read “Emergency Exit Only.”

Not to mention Bowman’s thought process to think it’s perfectly logical for a sitting congressman to pull a fire alarm to try to open doors when running late for a vote. It’s safe to say his credibility is going up in smoke. Bowman was a fierce critic of the MAGA movement and often tried to ridicule and intimidate his political opponents. Yet, after his actions last week, it sounds like there is a need to make fire alarms great again.

“But I want to be very clear: this was not me, in any way, trying to delay any vote. It was the exact opposite – I was trying urgently to get to a vote, which I ultimately did, and joined my colleagues in a bipartisan effort to keep the government open,” Bowman said. “I also met after the vote with the Sergeant at Arms and the Capitol Police, at their request, and explained what had happened. My hope is that no one will make more of this than it was. I am working hard every day, including today, to do my job, to do it well, and deliver for my constituents.”

Sure. Sure, he did, and sure, Bowman’s statement is truthful. Who hasn’t pulled a fire alarm in their lives when running late? It’s extremely plausible. And if anyone believes that, as the saying goes, “I have a bridge to sell you on the cheap.”

Bowman did what socialists do and attempted to sabotage political opposition, weaponizing a fire alarm to thwart the efforts of his political opponents. Bowman is the exact threat to “our nation’s democracy” that Democrats regularly warn about. His antics originate from the original Bolshevik playbook used by communist stalwarts such as Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky.

Nevertheless, Bowman must be held accountable for his attempted sabotage. His actions were beneath a congressman’s dignity, standards, and values. He demonstrated his allegiance to Democratic socialism, not the United States of America. He’s a toxic strain on the government that directly threatens the constitutional republic.

Using a fire alarm for political purposes is a new low, but it’s par for the course for Democratic socialists. Jamaal Bowman showed the entire country who he was this week. And his revelation was that of a politician that nobody should ever want.
