


Most Americans are convinced that artificial intelligence could "threaten civilization," according to a poll released a day after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called for increased regulation.
Sixty-one percent of respondents said that A.I. poses a risk to humanity, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday. More than two-thirds of respondents also said that they were concerned about the harmful effects of the technology.

Eight-two percent stated they were concerned about a recession, while 77% put combating crime through increased police funding as their priority.
Partisanship seems to shape opinions about A.I. Seventy percent of Trump supporters said they were worried about A.I., compared to 60% of Biden voters.
