Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) claimed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) should not have a security clearance on Thursday after Greene appeared to defend the suspected Pentagon document leaker.

Twenty-one-year-old Jack Teixeira was arrested on Thursday after hundreds of classified documents were leaked from the Pentagon. He appeared in a Massachusetts court on Friday, where he was charged under the Espionage Act with unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and unauthorized removal of classified information and defense materials.

In response to his arrest, Greene posted a lengthy message on Twitter.

"We have now found out from a supposed 21-year-old National Guardsman that there are American military troops on the ground in Ukraine. Is this another Stu Scheller who revealed the truth about the Biden Afghanistan withdrawal? If this is true, why are they there? What are they doing? A US troop presence in Ukraine to go to war with Russia was NEVER authorized by Congress," she tweeted.

The Republican firebrand added that "The National Guardsman that released these Pentagon papers is simply blowing the whistle on what is really taking place at the DOD, yet he’s being treated like a traitor and criminal. It’s the Biden Admin and the DOD who are acting like criminals. They’re the ones who should be held accountable to the American people because of what they’re doing in Ukraine."

In response, Cheney wrote, "Marjorie Taylor Greene makes clear yet again that she cannot be trusted with America’s national security information and should not have a security clearance of any kind."

In a separate tweet on the document leak, Greene noted that the suspected leaker "is white, male, christian, and antiwar."

"Ask yourself who is the real enemy? A young low level national guardsmen? Or the administration that is waging war in Ukraine, a non-NATO nation, against nuclear Russia without war powers?" she asked her followers.

Following the arrest of Teixeira, President Joe Biden commended the action taken by law enforcement before directing the intelligence community to "further secure and limit distribution" of classified documents.

"I commend the rapid action taken by law enforcement to investigate and respond to the recent dissemination of classified U.S. government documents," Biden wrote in a statement Friday. "While we are still determining the validity of those documents, I have directed our military and intelligence community to take steps to further secure and limit distribution of sensitive information, and our national security team is closely coordinating with our partners and allies."
