


Liverpool fans responded to the U.K. National Anthem with boos louder than the music Saturday.
Liverpool was playing against Brentford on the same day that the coronation of King Charles III happened in Westminster Abbey. Fans carried anti-monarchy signs and others were captured on videos on social media shouting obscenities about the new King.

Fans have a long-held reputation of disdain for the Royal family.

During the Football Association cup in May of last year, Prince William was also met with boos when fans discovered he was in attendance. Liverpool won the Saturday game against Brentford one to zero.

A CNN poll found that as many as 23% rank Charles unfavorably.
