Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is expected to announce his candidacy for president during a discussion with Elon Musk on Wednesday.

Musk will host the Florida governor on Twitter Spaces, where DeSantis is reportedly going to announce his 2024 plans during an interview with Musk and entrepreneur David Sacks.

Never Back Down PAC, a super PAC associated with DeSantis, released an ad touting his record and his ability to be a "President for the People" on Wednesday morning ahead of the announcement.

DeSantis is expected to be the top challenger to former President Donald Trump, who has conducted a stream of attacks against the governor since launching his own presidential campaign in November.

While Trump is ahead in recent polls, some strategists see DeSantis making a lane for himself and giving the former president a fight for the GOP nomination.

The interview will begin at 6 p.m.
