Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) bashed the $250 million fraud trial levied against former President Donald Trump in New York as a "joke."

The lawsuit against the former president was brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James last year. Graham went after James while on Fox News's Hannity on Monday, arguing she campaigned on making Trump's "life miserable."

“Let’s look at the [attorney general]. She started attacking President Trump in 2018, and she promised if she got to be the attorney general of New York, she would make this guy’s life miserable, that she would go after him, look under every rock,” Graham said on Monday.

“She has used Donald Trump to elevate herself politically. She is trying to get ahead at Donald Trump’s expense. The judge has ruled that President Trump committed fraud and nobody got defrauded. The judge believes that Mar-a-Lago is worth $18 million. What a frigging joke!” Graham continued.

Graham, who has endorsed Trump for president in 2024, then said how the trials will make it hard for Trump to campaign in the Republican presidential primary.

Trump has similarly gone after James for the case brought against him, calling her "grossly incompetent."

"This case should be dismissed. This is not a case. And she should probably be dismissed also because she's terrible and grossly incompetent — as I've said," Trump told reporters outside the courtroom on Tuesday.

Justice Arthur Engoron has already found Trump liable for the fraud claims, but now, the nonjury trial will proceed to examine the six claims brought by James.

Trump also stated on Tuesday that he intends to testify in the fraud trial, "at the appropriate time."
