Former University of Pennsylvania swimmer turned transgender activist Lia Thomas is back at the center of attention after the national champion was seen on social media appearing to embrace the "Trantifa" movement.

Thomas, a biological male who identifies as female, was seen on Instagram sporting an all-black outfit that included a BDSM leather harness and shirt reading "Antifa Super Soldier."

The image of Thomas was reportedly shared by the activist's partner Gwen Weiskopf, who purportedly identifies as transgender.

Conservative journalist Andy Ngo reposted the picture to his Twitter Monday, causing it to go viral.

"#Trans swimmer Lia Thomas, formerly William Thomas, has now embraced the #Trantifa branding in new photos posted on social media. Trans violent militancy is the current focus of #Antifa," Ngo tweeted.

"They believe that critics of trans ideology should be silenced, maimed or murdered. Some call for sexual violence against females in particular, as revenge."

Riley Gaines, Thomas's former opponent and outspoken advocate for the protection of female sports, was quick to add her opinion.

"Doesn't this make so much make sense," Gaines tweeted following Ngo's post.

"I haven't specifically bashed Lia Thomas on anything (other than calling him an entitled narcissist which I stand by) because ultimately he was following the rules in place. But this is disturbing."

Ngo's post has been viewed over 2.3 million times.
