The four-time NBA champion co-founded the media corporation SpringHill Company, which is rumored to be eyeing the purchase of Complex Networks, according to a report.

Complex is a music and culture outlet owned by the struggling BuzzFeed, which announced the closure of its news division this year.
SpringHill has yet to make an offer, and no negotiations have been confirmed, but James's company has supposedly floated a $100 million purchase for Complex.
That offer would be a third of what BuzzFeed acquired Complex for in 2021, and CEO Jonah Peretti has "not been receptive to the idea," the report noted.

James founded SpringHill with Maverick Carter, and the company has developed works including Hustle, SpaceJam: A New Legacy, and Redeem Team.
SpringHill was valued at $725 million in late 2021, according to the report.
