Republican and Democratic leaders alike are coming together to ridicule Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) campaign launch after it experienced delays from major technical glitches on Wednesday evening.

The Florida Republican declared his GOP bid for the 2024 presidential race on Twitter Spaces with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

DeSantis was slated to announce his candidacy at 6 p.m., and officials were quick to respond to the new contender in the stout GOP primary field.

“The interwebs may have stopped ⁦@GovRonDeSantis⁩ from launching on Twitter, but rain didn’t stop this crowd from showing up to see ⁦ @NikkiHaley⁩ in Rye, NH,” the New Hampshire Journal tweeted.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who entered the race in February, took aim at DeSantis’s derailed campaign launch. Her team responded while Haley headlined an event in Rye, New Hampshire.

Haley headlined former Massachusetts GOP Sen. Scott Brown’s "NO BS Backyard BBQ" event on Wednesday evening, marking her fourth campaign-related event in New Hampshire.

“We’re so proud of @TeamHaley and our incredible campaign launch. Here’s a throwback to February 15th when @NikkiHaley jumped into the arena,” Haley press secretary Ken Farnaso tweeted.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) joined in mocking DeSantis’s unreliable campaign launch, responding to a tweet targeting David Sacks, the Silicon Valley entrepreneur and donor to DeSantis.

“We had more people join when I played Among Us,” Ocasio-Cortez said, referring to the congresswoman’s voter outreach tactic in 2020, playing the popular game Among Us on Twitch.

Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Nikki Fried called the campaign launch "beyond humiliating" and "predictable" on MSNBC Wednesday evening.

"We know that he doesn't have the personality to be president of the United States," Fried said. "And so this just shows once again that he's so out of touch with people."

Fried has been openly critical of DeSantis for supporting billionaires and large corporations, recently attacking him over supporting Republicans who are "holding our economy," as reported by Florida Politics.

Rep. Ritchie Torres, who was elected to Congress in 2020, tweeted, "Is Ron DeSantis' campaign launch on Twitter Spaces an example of how he would lead our country?"

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) took a jab at the conservative governor, tweeting that DeSantis "just became the first presidential candidate in American history to launch his campaign after suffering a massive defeat to a cartoon mouse."

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., called DeSantis's campaign “botched.” “The stakes are too high, and the fight to save America is too critical to gamble on a first-timer who is clearly not ready for prime time,” the statement said.

President Joe Biden turned DeSantis's failed launch into a campaign maneuver. "This link works," he tweeted, directing users to a Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris donation page.

The DeSantis team did not respond to a request for comment.
