The search for onetime Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan’s former chief of staff ended in a shooting involving the FBI on Monday evening in Tennessee.

Hogan’s former chief of staff, Roy McGrath, was taken to the hospital after being hurt in the shooting at the 10700 block of Kingston Pike at Lovell Road in Knoxville. The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. and is under review, according to the FBI.

“The FBI is reviewing an agent-involved shooting which occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023,” the bureay wrote in a statement.

“During the arrest the subject, Roy McGrath, sustained injury and was transported to the hospital,” it added.

The statement went on to note that the FBI takes all shooting matters seriously. It said the incident was being investigated by the FBI’s Inspection Division.

The arrest happened days after Hogan expressed his support for the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service to track down McGrath.

McGrath became wanted after he failed to appear in court in Baltimore on March 13. A reward offered by federal authorities for information on the situation reached $20,000 at one point.

McGrath’s lawyer, Joseph Murtha, would not comment on the case. He said he was waiting for more information.
