Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump confirmed that criminals will be the first to be deported as part of President-elect Donald Trump‘s proposed deportation plan.

Since the announcement of former ICE Director Tom Homan as the next administration’s border czar, Lara Trump said she noticed an increase in “fearmongering” from the Democratic Party. While on Jesse Watters Primetime on Monday, she reacted to a clip from The View on the topic of Homan’s appointment.

Co-host Ana Navarro said on the show that “there’s not enough criminals” among the immigrant population to justify mass deportations. Lara Trump disagreed.

“Maybe somebody should remind [Navarro] that we do have 15,000 people who are convicted sexual assaulters, 13,000 murderers wandering the streets, 350 people on the terror watch list. I don’t know, that’s 350 more than I want in my country,” Lara Trump said. “So yes, those are going to be the people that are prioritized to get out of this country. Of course, it’s not going to be easy, but it’s necessary. And it’s also necessary to send a strong message out there.”

Lara Trump pointed to Democratic politicians’ resistance to addressing the border crisis as the primary reason that cost them the election, not just for the White House but also for congressional races. According to the RNC co-chairwoman, the 2024 election results represented a “breakup” between American voters and the Democratic Party.

President Joe Biden tapped Vice President Kamala Harris as his border czar, for which she faced scrutiny. Since the pair took office in 2021, over 10 million immigrants have reportedly entered the country illegally, the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.

report from Blueprint found that nearly a quarter of voters ranked the border as their top concern of the Nov. 5 election. It was in the top three concerns voters had overall in choosing Trump over Harris.
