NextImg:LA coroner confirms fentanyl killed rap legend Coolio

The Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner announced Thursday that rap legend Coolio's 2022 death was the result of effects stemming from heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.

Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died at 59 years old on Sept. 28 due to an accidental overdose, a family spokesman was told by officials.

He was found lying on the floor of a friend's bathroom.

The report also listed cardiomyopathy, asthma, and phencyclidine as factors contributing to the death of the "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper.

Cardiomyopathy affects the heart muscle, causing it to grow stiff and enlarge, thus making it difficult for the muscle to pump blood throughout the body.
