Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) said there was no chance she would join the Republican Party after leaving the Democrats, describing the two as equally broken.
In a Sunday CBS Face the Nation interview, the Arizona centrist said she was done with parties altogether and will remain an Independent for the foreseeable future.
HOW MANCHIN AND SINEMA ARE HELPING REPUBLICANS PLOT A BIG WIN OVER DEMOCRATS AND BIDEN
"No," Sinema responded with a laugh when asked if she would ever become a Republican. "I'm laughing because I literally just spent time explaining how broken the two parties are."
“You don’t go from one broken party to another,” she added.
She went on to say that her new independence should be celebrated as a call to end increasing partisanship and polarization in the United States.
“I would suggest that what I tried to do in the United States Senate right is to show that we have differences, differences which should be celebrated,” Sinema said. “That’s an important part of a democracy. But those differences shouldn’t stop us from getting things done.”

The Arizona senator also refused to say whether or not she would be running for reelection in 2024.
Sinema, elected to the Senate in 2018, has proven to be a thorn in the Democrats' side, jeopardizing the party's plans even while a party member. She left the Democratic Party in December 2022. If she decides to run in 2024, she will face opposition from Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego and Republican Sheriff Mark Lamb, Politico reported.
