Kirk Cameron questioned why the American Library Association seems to be attempting to stifle conservatives’ ability to hold library gatherings as an alternative to the drag queen story hours.
In response to a recording of an ALA presentation that indicated it was seeking to “exploit loopholes to block Brave Books story hours,” Cameron said it was about the libraries keeping control.

“This is all about keeping control of the libraries in the hands of librarians, and the way you do that is by making up things that aren’t there to block families from reserving a reading room for their own kids,” Cameron told Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM the Megyn Kelly Show.
Children’s faith-based book publisher Brave Books, along with Cameron, who has authored two children’s books, has called upon parents and children to gather at libraries on August 5 to “pray, sing, and read Brave Books and other books of virtue.” They are calling it “See You at the Library.”
“My question to the ALA is: Why all the hate?” Cameron said. “I thought I just learned the rule — it’s about diversity. It’s about equity. It’s about inclusion. Why are you excluding us?”
Brave Books has encouraged anyone who experiences difficulty reserving a library meeting room for August 5 to contact the publisher.
“We knew the opposition in local libraries and media would try to derail and demoralize this movement, but we weren’t expecting the top-tier national library leadership to attempt to halt our efforts,” Brave Books said.

In December, Cameron blasted several libraries for turning down his request to read his faith-based children’s book As You Grow, calling out the inconsistency of access given previously held drag queen story hours.
Following national criticism, libraries began to overturn their initial rejections, and Cameron set out on a nationwide library storytime tour.
