Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) suggested that a member of Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) office hold a press conference to answer questions regarding Feinstein's health.
Khanna said it is "painful" to see the 89-year-old senator in her current condition and repeated his call for Feinstein to step down while speaking on CNN's The Lead on Friday.

"I don't know the situation. I don't know who's making the decisions in that office. I think they at the very least owe transparency, whether it’s her or someone on her staff, to have a press conference to answer exactly what the truth is of her condition and her ability to do the job,” Khanna said.
When asked about Feinstein's insistence to reporters in the hallways of the Capitol on Tuesday that she had not been away from the Senate despite being gone from the chamber for nearly three months recovering from shingles, Khanna said he felt "sadness" about the incident.
"The real thing is that there needs to be people who are close to her, who have that conversation in a loving way and get her to do what I believe is the dignified thing,” Khanna said.
Khanna was the first House Democrat to call for Feinstein to resign during her extended absence from the Senate in April.
"It’s time for [Feinstein] to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people," Khanna tweeted in April.
Feinstein returned to the chamber last week after recovering from Shingles in her home state of California.

Reports on Thursday circulated about Feinstein's health, including one that said her bout of shingles affected her more than previously disclosed. The other report was that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) daughter, Nancy Corinne Prowda, was assisting Feinstein with her recovery.
“Nancy Corinne and Sen. Feinstein have been friends for decades. Nancy Corinne has been supporting her in her shingles recovery," Aaron Bennett, a spokesman for Pelosi, confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Thursday.
