Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson relieves her stress on the high court by taking boxing lessons.

Jackson, one of three Democratic-appointed Supreme Court justices, said she takes the lessons to deal with being in the minority, according to the Associated Press.

“I take boxing lessons,” Jackson said. “And I think that helps you to really get out any frustrations.”

Jackson, former President Joe Biden’s sole Supreme Court justice nominee, was elevated to the high court in 2022. The other two Democratic-appointed justices, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, were appointed by former President Barack Obama. Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump each have three justices on the court.

“Progress is not always a forward march,” Jackson said. “And so this is sort of part of life. The court goes through cycles, and perhaps we’re in one now. I mean, you can’t pick and choose your time on the court.”

In the same interview, Jackson refused to comment on Trump’s widespread pardons of Jan. 6, 2021, rioters, saying the decision was “out of my lane.”

“Pardons are executive branch prerogatives,” she said, “because these issues sometimes come to the court.”
