Former presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway slammed Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration over its global performance on Wednesday, urging Republican presidential contenders to step up their foreign policy game.

Conway aimed her criticism at the country's first female vice president, claiming Harris and other Biden officials had embarrassed the United States on the global stage with its highly criticized withdrawal from Afghanistan two years ago.

HOW TO WATCH THE REPUBLICAN DEBATE AND WHAT TIME DOES IT START

"'Commander-in-chief' [Joe] Biden has been reckless and feckless in foreign affairs and his deputy, Kamala Harris, has embarrassed us on the world stage," Conway said in an opinion piece for Fox News.

"What's the point of having a female vice president if, due to her and Biden's impulsive, deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan, Afghan women are less free?"

Harris has faced backlash over her performance on the world stage, including for a speech she made in Ghana in March that critics called a "word salad." She has also been criticized for her role in immigration and the U.S. border with Mexico. She has also taken trips to Europe and other African and Latin American countries since being elected.

Foreign policy has become an important topic for Republican candidates hoping to unseat the president in the general election next year. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), who served as former President Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, has made the United States's relationship with China one of her biggest policy issues.

Conway praised Trump's foreign policy tactics and she questioned what candidates outside of Trump would do on issues such as the war in Ukraine, China's growing power, and the U.S.'s fentanyl crisis.

"President Trump achieved peace through strength, becoming the first modern president to keep us out of new wars, eliminated ISIS and terrorist leaders, compelled other countries to step up their fair share in defense spending, kept Russia out of Ukraine, Iran out of Israel, and held China accountable on fentanyl, trade, and defense," Conway said. "What would Republican presidential candidates not named Trump do the same or do differently?"

Conway outlined other key issues she is watching for during Wednesday night's GOP debate, including which candidates were willing to tackle education, healthcare, and abortion; their stances on Trump; and their plans to improve the U.S. economy.

Eight of the top contenders for the Republican nomination will take the stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday night. The debate is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. EST, and it will be moderated by Fox News. Trump will not participate in the event.
