Singer and Television host Kelly Clarkson says she recently moved to New York because she needed a fresh start, adding that she "couldn't be" in Los Angeles.
Clarkson, host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, explained part of her reasoning for relocating to the Big Apple was her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, and she and her children needed "a fresh start."
DISTRICT OF CRIME: WHAT HAPPENED TO WASHINGTON'S SHRINKING POLICE FORCE?
“I’ll be real honest: I thought I was making a horrible decision,” Clarkson told USA Today. “I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”
Clarkson's move to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City took place between seasons four and five of her show, which premiered on Monday.
The relocation by Clarkson puts her on the growing list of celebrities leaving the city of Los Angeles and California as a whole, as many residents of the 'city of angels' are constantly dealing with crime and the high cost of living. In August, Natasha Bure, the daughter of Candace Cameron Bure, announced that she was moving to Texas, describing it as a chance for her to "go and get out of my comfort zone."

Additionally, Dean Cain, known for playing the Man of Steel in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, announced earlier this year that he was leaving California over its high cost of living and rising crime, describing California's policies as "just terrible.” He is now residing in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Other actors and celebrities who have fled the Golden State in recent years include actor Mark Wahlberg, musician Rod Stewart, and actress Hilary Swank.
