Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), the progressive member representing a district largely held by Republicans, announced a haul of $3.2 million for the second quarter of 2023 for her 2024 Senate campaign.

The congresswoman on Thursday revealed she received 110,000 donations coming from all 58 counties in California. Porter raised $4.5 million in her first quarter from over 80,000 unique donors.

Porter, a former law professor at the University of California, Irvine, announced she wouldn't seek reelection in California’s 47th Congressional District in January, joining the competitive Democratic primary race to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) instead. Porter has been neck and neck with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), recent polling shows. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) is also in the running but typically polls below her opponents.

Schiff, recently censured by the Republican-led House, had a record-breaking fundraising quarter, raising $8.1 million for his campaign over the past three months. Lee raised the lowest amount, with around $1.3 million collected.

Porter entered the national spotlight after flipping a widely held Republican district in Orange County during her first run for office in 2018, defeating GOP Rep. Mimi Walters in the 45th District. Porter then beat Republican Scott Baugh, one of two publicly declared GOP candidates in the race for her seat, in the newly redrawn 47th District.

A member of the Progressive Caucus, Porter has run her Senate campaign with a refusal to take lobbyist or corporate PAC campaign donations, a common practice among other progressive candidates.
