White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre got into a verbal fight with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy on Thursday when asked a question on illegal immigration.
Doocy had asked Jean-Pierre what the White House called 10,000 people illegally crossing the border "in a single day" during Thursday's press briefing at the White House. Jean-Pierre began to respond to Doocy by asking, "What do you call it, Peter, when GOP puts forth a —" before she cut herself off, leading to her and Doocy getting into an argument.

"I tried to answer, Peter, I tried to answer the question, you stopped me," Jean-Pierre said.
She then proceeded to call on other reporters.
Jean-Pierre also stated that President Joe Biden "has taken historic action" regarding immigration days after the administration expanded its temporary protected status program for Venezuelans, a move advocated by blue state government officials, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, as they deal with a surge of immigrants.
The White House press secretary's statement comes after at least 215,908 foreign nationals were apprehended or reported evading capture after illegally entering the southwest border in August, according to preliminary Border Patrol data.

On Wednesday evening, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) sent the Texas National Guard to help with the "invasion" at the southern border, ordering officials to install more razor wire. Abbott also deployed other local law enforcement agencies along with the Texas Department of Public Safety, arguing in a letter sent to the president that the federal government is failing to protect Texans.
"Texans are paying the price for your failure," the letter reads. "Ranches are being ripped apart, and homes are vulnerable to intrusion. Our border communities are regularly disrupted by human traffickers and bailouts. Deadly fentanyl is crossing the porous border to such a degree that it is now the leading cause of death for citizens between the ages of 18 and 45."
